Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is Open 24 hours. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (706) 543-6505. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 64 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Athens is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

i am genuinely appalled and traumatized by my experience with this dentist. i went in with multiple cavities, hoping just to see what i could do or if i could save any of the teeth. my technician was wonderful, he was very attentive, he knew what he was talking about, and most importantly he was kind to me. perhaps it would be easier for me to list my grievances in a bullet form list β€’ doctor was genuinely shaking while working on another patients teeth, while drimmelling them and a pair of false teeth for a different patient β€’ he didn’t speak to me at all while i was there β€’they tried right away to charge me out of pocket without seeing if my insurance would be taken β€’ i didn’t know i was receiving a numbing shot until it was being put into my gums β€’ the dentist didn’t use a mouth/lip guard even though my very front teeth were the ones being used, leaving me to have to hold open my own mouth to not be cut by the drimmel/drill or whatever it is β€’ the dentist broke orthodontic hardware in my mouth that i made sure he was aware of first, and then it was denied being broken by him and my tech, even though the tech was there the whole time and had to have seen it because an entire piec

I have used Dr. Dubois twice, the first time in 2017 to pull out a broken tooth and a wisdom tooth that had grown in and again in 2024. In 2017 he did an amazing job - fast-forward to 2024, I had a tooth that had broken and I had requested that he extract that tooth, he insisted he could save it. The office was different this time - the energy, the tools looked old and rusty almost, nothing was organized - but he's the professional so I let him "save" the tooth. He drilled it until there was nothing but a tiny sliver of actual tooth left while drilling into the tooth in front of it. While drilling I inhaled a ton of tooth dust and got very sick afterwards. Not even two weeks later the tooth broke, as I knew it would because the filling was not even shaped to fit my bite or anything and as I said it was just a sliver of tooth left. Two days later the filling came out while I was eating a sandwich. I tried to get in to get it pulled but it seemed every time is call the office he was out or there was a scheduling issue. A year later, I had been living in extreme pain and couldn't take it anymore and no longer had insurance so I had to go get it removed but of course a dentist wouldn'

I've been going for years. Dr.Dubose is very nice and patient. I am terrified of needles and he always makes every visit quick and to the point. I'm always in and out with a smile.
